Are you an insured business and do you guarantee your work?

As of the 11th March 2004 it is illegal for any removalist to offer to arrange insurance, sell insurance or in any way provide insurance without holding an Insurance Licence or being an Authorized Representative of a licensed Insurer.  This Act has been invoked for the protection of consumers.  It is a common misconception that removalists insure your possessions with every move. By law, removalists are unable to insure your individual items unless they hold an Insurance Licence or they are a Authorized Representative of a licensed Insurer. BE CAREFUL OF REMOVALISTS THAT STATE INSURANCE IS INCLUDED IN THERE QUOTE, YOUR FURNITURE MAY NOT BE COVERED AT ALL.

How did you decide to get into your line of work?

I was offered a part time job with a big removal company that one of my mates was working for while i was still at school, i took the job and worked weekends until school finished, i then started as a full time casual, i seen so many people come and go from the company, so many breakages and distraught customers from the carelessness of some employees. I decided to open my own business where i could supply a quality service where i didn't have to see people upset all the time.

Do you have a favourite customer story you would like to share?

Farnell Removals has provided regular services for Mission Australia, Boyztown, K.E.I.H.S services, it gives me great satisfaction continually providing our premium service for these companies and knowing that we are doing our part to help out some of the more disadvantaged members of society. We also provide regular service to new furniture suppliers such as Modern Furniture, Super A Mart etc which has included complete warehouse removals local and interstate. One of the largest moves Farnell Removals & Transport has undertaken was moving the complete Lismore Private Hospital from Lismore to Woolongong, which included approx 250 electric beds, very expensive and extremely fragile specialized hospital equipment, overall the size of the move was around 500 cubic meters (a 3 bed home is approx 25 cubic meters). With the help of our trusted sister company "anywhere removals nsw" (based in Kiama) we worked in shifts day and night, completed the contract and got everything to it's destination without damage within 1 week.

What do you like most about your job?

I like that i can keep fit without the need of a gym, I like that everyday brings new places, new challenges, new people, my job has given me the opportunity to visit a lot of places in Australia from Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, perth, even cape york. Having a different job would mean, I would have never got to see a lot of these places or meet the people i have become friends with from all over the country. unless going on a trip around Australia or taking lots of holidays, I like to see the smiles on customers faces when the job is complete and know that they are happy with the way things went.

What questions should a customer ask to hire the right service professional?

Most information can be found by searching the internet, if you cannot find the company on the net then it is most likely there is something not right about that company and you should probably steer clear of them. If there is anything you can't find an answer to on the net then call the company, generally you can tell by talking to somebody if there genuine or not, if you get a bad feeling about somebody while talking to them, listen to that bad feeling and try the next company, if you feel comfortable on the phone chances are you have found the right provider.

I have been a professional removalist since i was 15 years of age, I know what i am doing, although you speak with me in regards to booking your job i am not a salesman i am a real removalist with plenty of experience and can accurately answer any of your questions. If I wasn’t doing the job right I would have bad reviews, if you do look my business up on the net you will see my reviews. I take pride in the service i give and look after the customer the best way i can. My team and i can and do go that little bit further than our competitors to make sure the customer is satisfied with the service they receive.

Here at Farnell Removals we pride ourselves on the personalized service we offer to each and every 1 of our valued customers, we are here to offer advice and answer any questions you may have from start to finish.  Farnell Removals may not be the cheapest and we are definitely not the most expensive, we do however provide a premium removal service personalized to your needs. Each truck that Farnell Removals operates is fully equipped with the best quality materials available, we use clean and thick quilted blankets especially made for transporting furniture - NOT the old style felt pads that leave your furniture dirty smelly and itchy, in some cases requiring a professional clean, our trolleys have rubber protection on them to prevent scratches where as some other companies do not bother, we use strong straps to tie your furniture in securely as opposed to fraying straps and weak ropes that can break and cause huge damage to your gear.  When you talk to anybody at Farnell Removals you know you are talking to more than a salesman, anyone that answers your call has worked out in the trucks also, which means they know what is involved on the actual moving day and have the expertise to answer any of your questions accurately without giving you false or misleading statements. We are all removalists not salespeople.

What are the typical things that you need to know before you can provide a quote to a customer?

For a fixed price quote we need the following. 1. An itemized list of things to be moved. 2. Your pick up and deliver suburbs with information of access for a truck. 3. Are there any larger than normal items or heavy/ unusual items eg piano, pool table, safe, pinball machine etc 4. Your flexibility with your move dates and times.

How can a customer save money before you start the work? Please give 3 tips

Best 4 ways to save money prior to move,  1. Pack as many small/loose items as possible or if possible transport them yourself in your car or trailer.  2. Move anything you can as close as possible to where the truck will park, remember to leave room for the  removalist to gain access to furniture by leaving hall ways and door ways clear, boxes are best in one area. 3. Label furniture saying which room the item goes into at the destination so we don't have to waste time holding the item or double handling the item if we are unsure. Also label the room at destination. 4. Ensure your vehicles are out of the way of where the truck needs to park, if there is no loading zone near your unit/apartment try to save a parking spot for the truck via management or filling the closer parks with your vehicles until the truck arrives,

In the removal industry just like other trades and services you get what you pay for (to an extent). Some companies are way to cheap to be operating legitimately, some are well overpriced for a very basic service. We may not be the cheapest and we are definitely not the most expensive however we provide a quality service at a very fair price, i have been told regularly that we make the customers previous removalist look like amateurs.

How do you normally charge for your service?

Farnell Removals & Transport charge an hourly rate for local moves, this is charged in 15 minute increments unlike most that round up either half hour or complete hour, our staff are quick and don't muck around.  Interstate or long distance moves are based on a cubic meter rate which varies on destination, these moves are quoted and need detailed information prior to quote.

Farnell Removals and Transport specialize in being able to do what others can not, emergency moves, after hours evacuation, quick response removals to remove you and your furniture from domestic violence and dangerous situations immediately. Also difficult access units/apartments, we have a smaller truck with low clearance to get closer and gain better access to these locations saving you both time and money, this truck is also perfect for inner city removals as the maneuverability in and around high traffic areas is a lot better which also saves you time and money. Pianos, Pool Tables, Safes and other heavy items are also no problem for Farnell Removals & Transport.

I have attained several certificates that prove Farnell Removals & Transport would be a more logical choice than another provider, after graduating from high school and with my 15 years experience in the trucks and over 2 million klms driving trucks without an accident and keeping all 12 points on my Heavy combination licence, actual certificates include, AFRA ACCREDITATION (P007 05), certificate 2 in Business (office admin), certificate 2 in communication for the workplace, certificate for understanding key general workplace health and safety issues, certificate 1 in hospitality, other certificates not relating to business but relating to my dedication as a person include QLD Ju Jitsu champion, AUS Judo nationals silver medal, selected for AUS Judo olympic team, MMA certificates for most active team member and purple heart.
