How did you decide to get into your line of work?

In senior school I was in the first class to ever be taught computer science in my school, I fell in love with computers and I got them better than most. In 1994 I first went on the Internet and my head just buzzed with all of the opportunities ... however it wasn't until 1996 that I stopped working for others and started making my living online, designing websites, marketing them... teaching people and generally having a good time doing what I love and getting better results than most others.

Let me share this ... it was posted in an open forum... by a good friend of mine who has a reputation I can only aspire to...  I posted in the LinkedIn thread but reconsidered and decided my sentiment warrants a new thread.  @Steve Steve does magic.  After going back and forth and milking Steve for strategy and he, in turn, being very generous... with a combination of Steve's Twitter know how and LI long form publishing permission, I am now averaging a growth of 8-10 new LI followers daily.  I will be over 3,000 opt in followers at LI by the New Year, and perhaps 10K by the end of next year.  Thanks, Steve!  The moral. Pony up some money and approach Steve to hire him if he will have you and he will/can teach you how to do the same.  This thread is unsolicited.

What do you like most about your job?

I love waking up in the morning and hearing from clients on how well they are doing... getting unsolicited testimonials and feedback just makes me buzz for days... and I do as I ask my customers to do, so I look at my results and I work to push them... and then tell my clients the stats based on my experience.

If I want to earn $100,000 online this year, how do I do it, how many visitors do I need and how do I attract these? Will I need to advertise and if so where and at what cost and will I get results, and if my profit margin is not great how do I attract a targeted audience without advertising.

Most customers ask me what my golf handicap is... and yes, I'm a golf nut, I'm not particularly good at golf but I do love playing ... apart from that most customers ask why I am more expensive than the other quotes to which I answer because I offer you the most value, I show clients the value and the results they can expect ... and generally I'll get the order ... my customers come to me for results, not shinny websites that sit and do nothing.

I am not sure I am the most reliable, things sometimes get delayed but that is because I like things to be done right... not perfect because nothing is perfect, by insisting on the quality and procedures I've got in place, I know that the finished product will far exceed expectations and will be something aimed at meeting a customers goals... not only that, in most cases I'll continue working to ensure such success.

I need to know how much a typical customer is worth over their lifetime to you, I need to know your goals and what success looks like in twelve months time. If you have an existing website, I need to know how many visitors you are attracting and what your conversion rate it ... then I need a target customer profile ...  then I want you to engage me, somehow to make me get interested in working with you.

Have a plan 2. refine the plan 3. work the plan  This particularly works with website marketing plans, you have a new fx digital website how are you going to market it, or are you going to leave it up to fx digital who will just submit it to the search engines... a little advertising might go a long way.

Our pricing is well, just $200 dollars per month for a standard business website complete with all the maintenance, updates, support, etc... you will ever need and as it costs us thousands to build your website, we actually invest in you and have to keep you as a customer for long time before we make any money... and as we have no contract that means we must deliver results... or you'll cancel and we'll be the ones that lose money and not you.  Go ask another developer is they'll put your new website online for $200 and let you cancel at anytime if it doesnt work out ... we've done this for almost 20 years and we know our market and what works.

How do you normally charge for your service?

For full custom projects I tend to meet with clients and interview them to see if we are a good fit. If we are I will produce a quote giving a fixed price and showing you the sort of return you can expect. I also have monthly plans, etc... for producing as many website visitors and customers as you need.
