How did you decide to get into your line of work?

I studied political science and Maori studies in NZ, worked in treaty claims for four years, went to Burning Man in the US and had an early mid-life crisis. Some soul-searching on a mountain (for real), and inspiration from Jamie Oliver (true, I swear), led me to my commitment to healing the human body.

Do you have a favourite customer story you would like to share?

Recently I had a 47-year-old cricketer come in feeling held back by hamstring tightness. We did some functional assessment and found that it was actually over-active quads causing the issue.  The following weekend he scored his first half-century in over a decade.

What do you like most about your job?

I love being able to combine my geeky passion for learning (about the human body) with the deep sense of fulfilment that comes from helping people. It's a brilliant win-win situation.

What questions should a customer ask to hire the right service professional?

Not many people do this: phone your practitioner before you book to TALK in real-time. Get a sense for who they are as a person and as a professional. And if you don't feel 100% confident with what you hear, do not hesitate to thank them for their time, and go elsewhere.

I am often asked about how you can improve your posture. Good posture is a life-long practice, you never get to a point where you "just have it." More important than sitting, or standing, or walking or running, is VARIETY. Like your diet, when you have a variety of movement in your life, you have better posture. I can help you alleviate the symptoms of poor posture, and I will coach you towards improvement, but in the end - of course - long-lasting improvement is up to you.

Why should a customer hire you over another service provider?

My service is above and beyond a 'normal' remedial massage.   I use comprehensive assessment methods, in some cases including photographic logging to compare results. I continue to study new methods and approaches in order to find what works (and what doesn't).   Finally, I listen.

What are the typical things that you need to know before you can provide a quote to a customer?

Before you arrive I'll ask you to fill in a new client intake form, which will prompt you for information about previous treatment, medications, conditions, and injuries. Once you're booked, I'll send you the link to complete this form online before you arrive.

How can a customer save money before you start the work? Please give 3 tips

To save some dollars and express commitment, you can prepay for 3, 6 or 12 massages (per household) when you book online. The more you buy, the more you save. Additionally, any personal therapeutic exercise equipment that I prescribe for you will be included for free.

What makes your pricing competitive?

Accepted Answer

Your treatment price includes basic therapeutic movement equipment such as stretch straps and resistance bands. There is also a shower if you need to clean off excess oil before returning to work. Cupping, lymphatic drainage, and all other specialised techniques are all-inclusive in the rate.

You can pay per treatment or pre-pay for several treatments to get a discount. Hicaps instant rebates are available on the date of treatment for health insurance extras. You can also book online and pay instantly with Paypal or any credit card.

Is there a particular aspect of your trade or industry that you specialise in?

I specialise in treating shoulder dysfunctions. This includes (but is not limited to) frozen shoulder, adhesive capsulitis, impingement, thoracic outlet, wry neck, and posture pain.

I have studied with several of the best manual therapy instructors in the world – Til Luchau, James Waslaski, Dave Sheehan, Shaun Brewster to name a few.  This gives me a deep tool box from which I can draw the right technique at the right time for your individual needs.
