Are you an insured business and do you guarantee your work?

As a responsible Celebrant, I have professional Indemnity Insurance and Public Liability Insurance. My guarantee comes in the form of the Code of Conduct that all celebrants must adhere to. A copy will be given to my clients at the time of booking.

How did you decide to get into your line of work?

After reflecting on the day spent with my husband walking around Mt Tomah, I realised that after 20 years of marriage, I still enjoyed his company. Even when we were silent, it was just the place I was meant to be. I wanted to share this with other couples to show that no matter how many ups and downs, love is forever and thinking how to share this, I spotted a sign for a Marriage Celebrant. The rest as they say is history.

The following testament is one of my favourites.  Dear Jeanette.   We would like to thank you very much for being our marriage celebrant. Your warm and friendly approach made us both feel very relaxed, and we really loved the way you made us feel more like friends. The meetings and chats we had together before our big day, were very nice, helpful, friendly and informative On the day of our marriage, we were very pleased with everything you did for us, and your warm friendly approach helped take away some of our nerves. What do you like most about your job?

I love meeting people and helping them on their Wedding Day. Being around happy people on such a happy occasion and knowing I have helped them with a wonderful life memory, keeps a smile on my face for days.

What questions should a customer ask to hire the right service professional?

Accepted Answer

There are the usual question that could be asked, like cost, experience and what's involved, but I do strongly suggest that before making your decision on which celebrant to hire, have a cuppa with them and see if you have a good connection with them. After all, you want to feel relaxed and comfortable with the person conducting your important ceremony.

What questions do customers commonly ask and how would you answer them?

The most common question I am asked is "Once we decide on a Celebrant what's next" My general response to this questions is "The first thing we do is make a booking to see me for your formal interview where we will complete the Notice of Intent to Marry form, complete other documents then start working on your ceremony. Then through the time leading up to your special day, through emails, phone calls and even extra meetings, we work together to put together the ceremony of your dreams. We organise to meet up for a rehearsal then on your wedding day it's all up to me to make sure everything we have discussed is carried out with professionalism and fun."

What makes you the most reliable and trustworthy person for the job?

Having worked in customer service jobs in the past, gives me a great understanding of what customers expect and how they would like to be treated. So being polite, on time, professional and friendly ensures you are getting a reliable and trustworthy celebrant.

Why should a customer hire you over another service provider?

Accepted Answer

When I say you have my full attention, I mean it. I only ever do 1 ceremony per day. That way I can put my all into your ceremony.  As a Celebrant, I have a responsibility to provide a service fitting the occasion. That means being professional and ensuring all aspects of the ceremony are carried out according to the law. But I also add some fun to the occasion. After all it is to be one of the happiest days of your life.

What are the typical things that you need to know before you can provide a quote to a customer?

To assist with providing you with the best possible price, I will need to know the date of the ceremony, the location, how many guests and any special requirements.

Are there any special offers you would like to offer to Oneflare customers?

Clients who enquire through Oneflare and book my services by paying the initial deposit within 3 months of the initial request, will receive a 10% discount off the original quoted price.

What makes your pricing competitive?

My prices are on par with most celebrants and I believe my service match my price. Ceremonies are designed to meet all your requirements and wishes and I do not place a limit on the number of emails phone calls or meetings to work on the ceremony.

How do you normally charge for your service?

Accepted Answer

My charges are usually broken up into 2 payments. $150 deposit when the Notice of Intent to Marry is lodge and the rest on or before the big day. Making a deposit ensures I lock that date in and I take no other bookings for that day. Instalment payments can also be arranged.

What experience, skills, qualifications or training do you have to make you the right person for the job?

In 2008 I became a Celebrant and I have not looked back. All authorised celebrants do Ongoing Personal Development training every year to maintain their accreditation. I am also a member of  Australian Federation of Civil Celebrants Association who have many members to call upon if ever I need help with something unusual.
