Are you an insured business and do you guarantee your work?

Accepted Answer

I have full public liability and all materials are covered under manufacturers warranty. I have only had one repair in twelve years, and the manufacturer came to the party. Full quality guarantee!!

What do you like most about your job?

I love the craft of it. I was always top of my art class all the way through school, especially with the craft e.g.. pottery, lino, woodwork, sculpture etc. For me rendering is making a business of the skills I love to exercise.

What questions should a customer ask to hire the right service professional?

You should ask how long they have been doing rendering. Anything under 5 years is not enough and even then most workers I've had usually lie. If they are quoting quite low, there's usually a reason. See if you're comparing apples with apples, so check price vs. finish. Membrane finish vs wet texture

I am a family man brought up in good middle class home. I have good family values and my St Kevin's College education always instilled many important values, and trustworthiness was high on the list.

Why should a customer hire you over another service provider?

Accepted Answer

After a year off, I am back to rendering and establishing new clients closer to home. Most of my work has been for established repeat clients/builders in Melbourne's South East who appreciated my attention to detail, perfect lines, sharp edges, and flat walls. Quality service mid priced.

What are the typical things that you need to know before you can provide a quote to a customer?

I need to know the total area of each wall section (W x H) including the windows, and the general scope of works required ie. what it is and what sort of look you want.

Are there any special offers you would like to offer to Oneflare customers?

I charge $45 p/m2 usually, but Oneflare customers get their first job for $40 p/m2 for wet texture or they can have a full membraned finish for standard $45 p/m2, Normally $55 with most companies!

What makes your pricing competitive?

I don't compete with cheaply priced renderers. They are usually new, inexperienced and cut corners with legal responsibilities of operating costs. I'm a fully paid up insured Aussie renderer. I charge less for a top job than most other top renders I know.

How do you normally charge for your service?

Accepted Answer

Most full scale jobs are on a standard metre rate. Small jobs will be priced estimating time plus materials with a minimum job price of $400.

Is there a particular aspect of your trade or industry that you specialise in?

Accepted Answer

Much of my work has been concrete finishes, venetian or tuscan finish features walls, and a lot of stucco. Most of my work has been Port Melbourne to Brighton, down to Mentone to Bentleigh, across to Malvern, and more recently targeting the eastern suburbs.

What experience, skills, qualifications or training do you have to make you the right person for the job?

In the first 5 years of business I was a contractor for a few manufacturers as a preferred applicator. From there I rendered Glenvill homes for a couple of years and became the 'fix it' guy. I repaired the work of other render crews whose work wasn't up to standard. The buck stops with me.
