We guarantee that all matters are fully prepared in order to obtain the best result possible. No matter whether it is a guilty plea in the Local Court or Trial in the Supreme Court. Preparation is the key to success.

How did you decide to get into your line of work?

I never set out to be a lawyer. I commenced study at University after being in the workforce for over 10 years. Whilst I enjoyed the study, I wasn't keen on that particular area of study so I decided to undertake study in an area that I thought I would be able to use 'down the track'. Having previously worked as a Police Officer I decided upon law. After many years of part time study, with work and raising a family I managed to complete my study and get to where I am today.

What do you like most about your job?

Each day is different. Each matter is different. We enjoy meeting new people and dealing with the matters they are faced with. At Kernick law, you will always feel that your matter is in the best possible hands.

It is important that you feel comfortable with your lawyer. There are many experienced lawyers out there, but it is important to be able to build a rapport and have confidence in the person that is responsible for your matter.

What will happen to me. As I say to all my client's, unfortunately there aren't any guarantees in life. However, I do guarantee that you will have the best opportunity to obtain the best possible outcome.

I like to treat people the way I like to be treated myself. As with many businesses, word of mouth is the key. I will let you know straight away what problems or difficulties you may face.

The exact nature of your problem. In criminal matters, whether there is to be a plea of guilty or a defence offered and the matter is to proceed to a Hearing or Trial.

1. Have all the details available before you attend for a conference; 2 Have any questions that you want answered ready when you attend a conference; and 3. Follow through on all requests that may be ask of you in order to prepare your matter.

Each matter is dealt with on its own merits. I do offer an all inclusive fee rate for matters that require more than 1 court appearance. This way, my clients know up front what the fees will be with out any added hidden fees. Please contact our office for further details.

What makes your pricing competitive?

Higher fees not necessarily mean better service or guaranteed better results. We offer a set fee for most matters. As we are a small firm, we don't have large overheads like other larger firms. As such, we are able to maintain a fee that is affordable to all.

How do you normally charge for your service?

Accepted Answer

We have 2 fee scales for clients. The first is a fixed fee. Most matters in the Local Court are fixed fee. the second is a time costed scale. Family Law matters and more complex criminal matters are time costed. Should this occur, a written Costs Agreement is provided to our clients before any charges are incurred.

Is there a particular aspect of your trade or industry that you specialise in?

A keen interest in all facets of Criminal and Traffic law, including licence appeals. For many people, having a criminal conviction may lead to loss of employment as well as limit your chances of travelling abroad.

An experienced lawyer as both a defence lawyer and public prosecutor. Brad is also a former NSW Police Officer and NSW Paramedic.
