i have full professional Indemnity insurance which covers me for any issues. I do not guarantee my work but what i do do is that if an error has been made I will fix the error free of charge and if it has cost the client I will generally give a discount for next accounting fees

How did you decide to get into your line of work?

A cousin of mine was an accountant and he had suggested me to get into so I went to all the open days at the universities and i felt this could be a career for me it was interesting and no matter what field you are in public practice or commercial there are always challenges

when i first started in this industry i was assigned by my employer to do house calls tax returns, i arrived at a gentleman's house who had not being in Australia too long so he did not understand the tax system when i completed his tax i gave him an estimate he was not happy as a friend said he should get more i asked for payment he would not pay and then he called the police on me i waited and luckily it was sorted in the end

what i find the most appealing is that i am able to help a client get out of trouble with the ATO or other statutory organisations . I enjoy help a business develop and grow from the start up phase.

I always see my self as honest person, you can speak to many of my clients they will tell you I never divulge private information to anyone. I see that I am one of the most important people in a person financial life and I cannot see any advantage to gain if I divulge private info or I have questionable practices

i have been in the industry for over 20 years and i have come across many differnet scenarios which often challenged me but  I enjoyed the chanllenge and ensuring the client client gets the advice as possible. I am a small business so I understand the pressure many small businesses are under.

The type of Business, the structure it is run under, if there is any unusual circumstance i need to take into account. How quick they want the job done and well the books have been kept

Ensure that they have copies of all receipts, if they have a lot of receipts then putting them down in a worksheet and /or an accounting package and finally by using my check-list i provide to all clients they know what to bring in at the time of the waiting therefore I do not waste time chasing the client for additional information

my overheads are very little compared to most accounting firms and i do things for clients which many accountants would charge for for which i see as part of the business. The initial interview is for free

How do you normally charge for your service?

I have two ways of charging my fees firstly I charge on a prepayment basis where clients get an invoice each month which is for the following financial year and the credits are used to offset against the accounting fees and if too much has been paid they then receive a refund for the excess fees paid not enough they receive a top up invoice. the second option is your standard pay as you go an invoice is generated once the job is completed

Being a small accountign practice I do not have he resources to speicliase in a particular field, but i do have many clients in the Building industry as well Medical Industry and being small i have small overhead thus i pass on the savings to my clients

I completed a degree in accountancy at the University of South Australia, On completion I undertook more studies to become a member of CPA Australia. Then I recently completed my public practice certificate to ensure I am held responsible for my actions in giving you the appropriate advice
