Main Lawyers is insured (as all legal professional firms are required to). Main Lawyers also has its liability limited by a scheme approved under professional standards legislation.

How did you decide to get into your line of work?

I have always been drawn towards the underdog. I have only acted for injured people (never the insurers). I have always liked to argue and enjoyed Court work.

I acted for a man with a severe back injury in a TPD case. In his words "he would have given his left testicle to go back to work". The Fund offered nothing until about one week from trial. He ended up receiving the full insurance amount and about 90% of our legal costs paid for by the other side.

Meeting new and different people with varied life experiences and I am passionate about getting the best outcomes for injured people. I enjoy being able to assist people recover from a terrible event that has happened and move on in their life.

How long will my matter take to resolve? Usually between 9 - 18 months depending upon a number of factors. Does the other side pay any of my legal costs? In some personal injury matters and some litigated insurance matters, the other side may pay a proportion of your legal costs.

1. What type of matter it is? 2. How the injuries were sustained and what injuries? 3. The extent of the damage suffered to the person (ie time off work, extent of injuries, out of pocket expenses). In Superannuation and Life insurance cases it depends upon the insurance amount.

How can a customer save money before you start the work? Please give 3 tips

1. Keep good records and provide these to us at the beginning, including doctors reports, any WorkCover documentation and any medical invoices. 2. In Personal Injury cases, please have photographs of the incident site. 3. Keep records of all expenses (Doctors and medication) and any Care provided.

It depends upon the type of matter.  In Superannuation and Life insurance matters, I charge a fixed fee for the claims part of the matter. If the matter later becomes litigated (in Court), I would charge on a time-basis. In Personal Injury and other matters, I charge on a time-basis.
