Melbourne Roof Cleaning and Restoration is fully insured as per building standards.   We take pride to deliver the highest grade workmanship and the usage of excellent materials which allows us to provide a guarantee of 7 years on all full roof restorations.

How did you decide to get into your line of work?

With a passion for the outdoors and a great deal of skills in working for my hands, I always knew I would enter a trade.  Lucky enough to have a father who established Gippsland Roof Cleaning and Restoration some 35 years ago, it was an obvious fit.  After completing my qualifications and experience in his business, I moved to Melbourne and established Melbourne Roof Cleaning and Restoration and have been operating the business since.

Do you have a favourite customer story you would like to share?

I really enjoy working for a diverse group of customers and each customer's needs are so different.  I have delivered work for home owners, insurance companies, real estate agents, government departments and many others.  Each situation has been different.  My favourite though was being able to assist the people who had been through the fire emergencies in Wallan and Morewell.  People were wanting their homes or properties back and being able to clean and repair their pride and joy gave me much satisfaction.

What do you like most about your job?

The ability to work on such a variety of roofs and with such a diverse population of people.  Every roof is different and every situation requires often a different level of expertise or approach.  This allow for variety and I also love working in the outdoors.

* Level of Experience and examples of work * Will there be any additional costs above the quote? * What exactly will they deliver for the price? * Do they offer a guarantee? * Who will do the work - many have subcontractors which cannot guarantee the workmanship or quality

Should I replace my roof or get a roof restoration?  In most circumstances, roofs are repairable and with the quality of materials and good workmanship, an old roof can look like new again at about 1/3 of the cost.  An excellent option to explore initially for customers.

What makes you the most reliable and trustworthy person for the job?

As a family owned and operated business, our reputation is very important.  In the 20+ years of operation, we are yet to experience a customer that has been unsatisfied with our work.  We follow up customers and ensure they are happy with either the quote or the work.  In addition, we contact customers before commencing the start of work and if we cannot make it due to poor weather will always ring the customer in advance.

What are the typical things that you need to know before you can provide a quote to a customer?

To provide a quality quote we must inspect the following:  * Pitch and Size of Roof. Whether its a double or single storey.  * Types of roof - Cement tiles, Terracotta Tiles, Colourbond, Tin * The state of the Roof- Broken tiles, Mortar falling out, level of rust, etc * Whether the owner is experiencing problems such as leaking or overflows

How can a customer save money before you start the work? Please give 3 tips

1. We encourage customers understand what is involved in roof repairs and restoration.  Many shonky companies are appearing daily in the market and will try to take short cuts in either what is delivered, what products they use or on quality.  2. Most of our business comes from word of mouth which means that people happily recommend us to family and friends.  Check testimonials or previous workmanship examples.  3. Cheap prices are not always the best.  We are aware of door to door scammers and cheap price adverts that say they can deliver a roof restoration.  Be aware that some of these will add to the original cost of the price as they commence the job saying they found additonal faults or issues.  Our company makes an agreed price which we stick to.

As a one flare customer we are prepared to offer FREE gutter cleaning with any roof clean or roof restoration secured by the company.  For seniors over 65 we are also prepared to offer a 10% discount on the overall price of a roof restoration.

With the breadth of experience in the company, we dont take short cuts but ensure that the work delivered is of the highest quality.  We are competitive in price because we are family owned and operated.  The many overheads of larger organisations are savings for our company, which we flow on to the customer.

How do you normally charge for your service?

Our customers are provided on a quote for service outlining all the elements of work that will be completed.  Once finished, we will invoice the customers with a term of 14 days and payment can be received by Cash, Direct Debit and by Cheque
