How did you decide to get into your line of work?

I started my training as an Auditor and once reaching Supervisor Level decided I wanted to wok on the other side of the fence - at the coal face. I became a Financial Accountant for a large Company Kysor Warren and learnt how to manage staff and provide reports on a daily basis. When I started my family, I wanted more flexibility so I started MTE4U Pty Ltd so I could work around my family needs.

Being able to help a business owner find more time in their business to concentrate on their area of speciality, helping them to manage their reporting and statutory requirements and helping them to be more aware of the information that their financial reports are providing on their business

They should ask for their qualifications and insurance, references or if they can speak to existing clients, I have found that word of mouth is my most valuable advertisement as you get the goods right from the horses mouth

What does MTE4U stand for? It evolved from a company that both my husband and I had - My-Tech Enterprises - the logo being MTE. When I branched out on my own it became MTE4U - we like to think of it as My Technical Expertise 4 U

We have been qualified accountants since 1986, and before starting this business we have worked in a large variety of accounting roles from Accounts Receivable, Audit, Company tax, Financial Accountants and contract accountants and so we have a wide and varied experience actually on the business site

We are down to earth and are able to liase with your Tax accountant, Bank, insurance or workers compensation. We can provide your accountant with a year end file to meet all their needs and reduce down the amount of time and money you spend with them at Year end.

What are the typical things that you need to know before you can provide a quote to a customer?

The size of your company, how many pages are in your bank statement each month( average of 30mins processing per page), how many employees you have and a brief description of what your business does so we can ensure you are complying with industry requirements

How can a customer save money before you start the work? Please give 3 tips

1.Have all of your bank statements available for all accounts you have including credit cards and make notes on the statement if it isn't obvious what the expense is for 2. If you have employees, ensure that you have TFN Declarations and Super forms for each employee so we can ensure you are meeting your obligations 3. Have your paperwork in an orderly fashion and if cash is used ensure that Eftpos receipts are at least in date order

We can provide more than a bookkeeper and are cheaper than your regular accountant and we will come to you. We can also speak the same language as your accountant which saves you time

How do you normally charge for your service?

We charge by the hour(or part there of to a minimum of 15 mins) and our charge rate is $70 incl GST. We have arranged a set fee with clients who like to know ahead what they will be charged but we only charge for the time that you use us
