How did you decide to get into your line of work?

It seems such a long time ago now, but I was working in IT as a Technical Manager. It bored me silly! :) I'd always been a huge music fan; and in one way or another - it ran in my blood!  With some friends, I decided to organise a music festival for a local charity, and met and chatted with so many musicians through pulling the event together that I just knew it was what I wanted to do. Help people and work with music.   I took a position with an entertainment agency learning as much as I could, before being offered a Directorship with one of Sydney's largest agents some 6 months later. Curious, I met with the agent and soon realised that it was time to do it on my own. So I did, and I haven't looked back.  It's been an incredible ride so far; organising entertainers for Weddings, Clubs, Hotels, the Corporate and private sectors. Tour managing for some of Australia's biggest names, managing artist careers and carrying more guitar amps and rolling more leads than I care to count :)   Still - at the end of the day, I'm just me. A woman who cares enough about people to want to share my years of experience to find you the best entertainer possible!   I've been so blessed to meet so many gorgeous people through the business, and thoroughly enjoy getting to know them and what makes 'their story'. It really is such a privilege.   The rest as they say... is history! :)

What questions do customers commonly ask and how would you answer them?

We're often asked what is the average cost of an entertainer, but it's very difficult to answer as there are so many factors that will influence the price. It would be a bit like asking "how long is a piece of string" :)  If you remember that the amount of time on site and performing, the number of people in the act, travel and level of expertise will all influence the price of an act, it should help you allocate a reasonable and realistic budget.

Why should a customer hire you over another service provider?

We've worked in the Australian music industry for more than 15 years (currently 17 to be precise :)) and during that time we've booked entertainers for more weddings than we can count; managed artists careers, booked entertainment for numerous Clubs, Hotels and Corporate organisations as well as many private functions.  We know entertainment and how to make it work for you. We know a good band when we hear one, and we understand how artists calculate their costs which enables us to provide you with the best entertainer you can afford.   We strictly adhere to the entertainment industry legislation and don't hide behind a 'consultancy fee' just so we can charge more.   In us, you'll find we're upfront and clear in our operations and we have YOUR needs and goals in mind. After all, it's not about us - it's about you.

What are the typical things that you need to know before you can provide a quote to a customer?

We know you have a LOT to organise and think about and music is just one of them! It is often best to move 'book entertainer' higher up the 'to-do' list than a number of wedding planning schedules suggest.  Whether you utilise our automated service or our free personalised service, there are a few key factors we need to know so that we can help you effectively. All 'obvious' requirements these are:  * The venue and approximate set up / pack down time for the act.  * Your chosen style of music, and how many entertainers you'd like to perform  * An idea of the budget.  There are a number of factors that can greatly influence the cost of an entertainer, and the length of time they're required 'on-site' is often one of them, as is the number of performers. We're always happy to chat and provide cost effective suggestions to help you stick to your budget.

How can a customer save money before you start the work? Please give 3 tips

The best three tips for saving money on a wedding band that I can provide are: * Consider how many members you'd like in the act: -  More players means a higher cost but it does also mean they're able to create more of an atmosphere compared to a solo or duo act. Weigh up what's important to you and what will fit with your overall plan e.g. a great band atmosphere to dance the night away to or a subdued, intimate affair etc.  * Keep their 'on-site' time to a minimum: - Entertainers will need to set up before your guests arrive and if you're having your ceremony and reception in the same venue, this can mean they need to be on-site hours before your guests arrive to ensure there aren't any interruptions. Some brides believe that excluding speech times from the acts performance time will reduce costs. This is not the case unfortunately as the acts are still 'on-site' and will calculate this time into their quote.  * Is there a commission and if so - how much? If you're working with an agent, band manager, or a wedding planner, ask them what commission rate they're charging you and ask for a contract that clearly shows how much the band is receiving. If you're being overcharged, you could be paying hundreds more than you should be!

What makes your pricing competitive?

Hiring wedding entertainers can be a big 'unknown' for many couples; you're never quite sure how much you should be paying or what is a fair price. Add to that, there's usually a commission payable which can be anywhere up to 20 or 30% on top of the entertainer's fee - but you won't be told how much the rate is!  Our pricing is competitive - because YOU set the budget, and our entertainers know that if they'd like the opportunity to perform at your celebration, they need to work within it.   Our commission structure is more fair also - to you and the entertainers that we help you connect with. Most other businesses charge up to 20 or 30% on top of an artists fee. With us you only pay 10%.

How do you normally charge for your service?

Our services are commission based. In NSW, entertainment commissions are regulated at 10% unless otherwise agreed between the parties.   Many music related business unfortunately charge a much greater percentage and will 'hide' it as a 'Consultancy Fee'.    With us, you'll only ever pay a maximum of 10% commission and we're happy to provide you with an itemised list of the cost(s) that you incur. So much so, that when you make a booking through our website, our system automatically generates a paid invoice for you.   As you're in complete control of your spend and the entertainer you choose; you'll always know how much the services will cost.  For automated bookings via our website, we accept payments via PayPal or via direct deposit for bookings utilising our personalised assistance.  All entertainer payments are made direct with the entertainer. We only collect the commission (booking fee)
