I operate as a sole-trader, through my business, Nullegai Remedial Massage. I hold current professional indemnity insurance and public & product liability insurance policies that cover claims up to $10,000,000.

How did you decide to get into your line of work?

Most of my working life involved using my brain and not my body. In this phase of my life, I felt strongly that I needed to be working with my hands, my heart and my brain, and that I wanted to be helping people in more direct ways.

A new client, who had visited my Clinic for treatment of a tight, sore shoulder, and felt  much less discomfort and could move much more freely after a single treatment, confided as she left the Clinic that, because of her experience with other therapists, she had come with very low expectations.

Every type of work I have done has involved helping people. In my current role as a Remedial Massage Therapist, I help people in a very direct way by relieving their pain and stress. I enjoy seeing people who arrived at my Clinic in pain leave more comfortable and able to move more freely.

How often should I have a massage? That depends on what led you to seek treatment. If you experienced an injury, then together we focus first on healing the injury, then on recovering lost muscle function, then on maintaining muscle function. For maintenance, clients come weekly to six-weekly.

I cannot comment on the reliability and trustworthiness of other practitioners beyond my personal experience with them. As an Accredited Member of the Association of Massage Therapists (AMT), I am bound to uphold the Codes of Conduct of AMT and the Health Care Complaints Commission (in NSW).

What makes your pricing competitive?

I offer massage services through my home-based Clinic at Richardson in the ACT, and have lower overheads than therapists who work at shopping centres, health precincts and large hotels. My fees are very competitive and lower than therapists with higher costs can offer. I also offer massage services through a practice at Forrest, which may be a more convenient location for some clients. My fees at the Forrest practice are higher, and available on request.

My fees are based on the duration of the massage that I provide. Because I offer massage at my home-based clinic, my overhead costs are lower than those of therapists who rent rooms in shopping centres or health precincts, so I can offer my services at very competitive, lower fees.

I specialise in remedial massage - relieving the pain and discomfort that people experience from physical activity related to their work, sport and other recreational activities. I provide massage to people with acute and chronic conditions; most of my work is in providing maintenance massage.

I hold a Certificate IV in Massage Therapy Practice and a Diploma of Remedial Massage; several science-related university degrees; a Certificate IV in Small Business Management; and qualifications in craniosacral therapy, Thai traditional massage, canine remedial massage and Emmett therapy.
