  Their errors cost me an extra $6000 in GST BAS payments which was wrong. I paid Outback Accounting $2300+ for 7 months of book keeping YET it wasn't up to date for months. Not only that but my book keeping was littered with errors left right and centre. I had to waste thousands more for another accountant/book keeper to redo my entire year of BAS, book keeping and submit for late submission to the ATO. This review is LONG over due but the amount of massive headache these people put me through is insanely ridiculous how they are still able to operate. Their first sales meeting was great, they promised me that my books would be kept clean and up to date, I would get a monthly meeting until I'm able to understand my books. What did I get? Out of the 7 months, I had 2 meetings (the first month and when I called to say to cancel was my 2nd meeting). I didn't get any updates on monthly book keeping records. I did however get persistent emails to sign off on my BAS which had 3 lines of numbers - none of which I knew where these numbers were coming from. They said I need to review and sign. When I did a quick overview I could already see they were $50,000 over what I actually earnt. There was no explanation on how they overlooked this. When I started to dig in, I found it was littered in mistakes everywhere. - Charging GST when it should have been GST free - Missing BIG transactions - Things were miscategorised (eg.my shoe fixing was categorised as advertising expense) - Internal transfers were calculated as revenue I am not an accountant or good with numbers but even I could spot these errors from first glance, I am afraid the level of accuracy they have for other clients. When I raised these issues, they told me to stop focusing on the line by line numbers, focus on the top big line numbers instead. I have never heard an accountant say this before - if you don't pay attention to the small detail, THIS is when the big mistakes happen. They scoffed at the idea I wanted to hire my own book keeper saying they won't find anyone cheaper nor will they do a good job. But honestly, I think I would rather trust someone overseas than these guys AND pay more if I had peace of mind this was done correctly. I couldn't get out of their contract as I had to give them 1 month notice. During that time they said they would fix it. So it took them 1 month to get basically nothing done. They sent me categorisation of the items NOT actually fixing the BAS statements. Even then the categorisation was wrong when I told them initially my client was international, they still insisted they were Australian which affected my BAS payments (contributing to part of paying $6000 over what I should have paid). There were so many other issues and we are still finding more ridiculous errors as we try to work through this mess they left my books in. I would never recommend this company to anyone unless they want months of headache, paying more than what they need to and paying for another accountant/book keeper to redo the entire thing.

  Outback Accounting have been extremely helpful with my business and I couldn't of done it without them. I run a construction Labour hire company and booking keeping and accounts are not my strong point. Asad, Nudrat and the crew have setup my Xero software for me, understood my business model and helped me to refine it so it is profitable. they do the pay roll, pay super, pay the PAYG tax, communicate with my workers to get the relevant details they need so that i don't need to and just generally take care of the book keeping and accounts side of things. this allows me to focus on finding work and managing workers which is my strong points. highly recommended! PS I'm not an easy person to deal with and their patience and understanding has been amazing.
