Rupes Plumbing is fully insured and we offer manufactures warranties of various periods on appliances and components where applicable and a 25 year warranty on workmanship.

How did you decide to get into your line of work?

I've always been very handy. I grew up helping my father service diesel engines and was getting my hands dirty when I should have probably been playing with other kids. I had no idea when I chose plumbing what it would entail however it turned out to be a natural fit.

Do you have a favourite customer story you would like to share?

I diagnosed a hot/cold water cross connection that had been in place for 12 years (since the family moved in) that was causing cold water to mix with the hot whenever someone opened a hot tap in the house. Hence hot water was lukewarm at best for 12 years. They had just assumed that because it was solar it wasn't very hot. They were absolutely delighted with the end result. Finally full flow continuous hot water.

What do you like most about your job?

Getting out and about in Sydney and not being tied behind a desk. I take pride in my customer service and workmanship and always leave a job feeling good that I've solved a problem for someone and made their day.

What questions should a customer ask to hire the right service professional?

1. Can I ring the plumber and speak directly to the person who will attend my job. 2. Is the price within my expectations? Too cheap is often worse than too expensive if the job needs to be redone 3 months later. 3. Punctuality. Does 10am mean 10am or does it just mean sometime before lunch.

How much and when. "How much" is obviously job dependant. "When" Well I try and fit in with your schedule as much as possible. From 6am to 6pm 7 days with no weekend surcharge. Can't beat that !!!

What makes you the most reliable and trustworthy person for the job?

I don't believe in short cuts. There's a right way and probably a 100 wrong ways to do every job. For my own piece of mind I want you to be happy with the job. No point taking short cuts and then being called back 2 weeks later due to a failure.

Because besides exceptional service, I maintain a very efficient business structure with very low overheads. So you get the customer service and experience, without paying and arm and a leg for it.

What are the typical things that you need to know before you can provide a quote to a customer?

Location, access, location of current services i.e.. gas meter, water meter etc. Scope of work that needs to be completed by plumber. For example are you going to purchase and install a vanity yourself and just want it hooked up or do you need me to the whole job from start to finish.

How can a customer save money before you start the work? Please give 3 tips

1. Make sure access is not impeded by cars, furniture etc. 2. Be up front with information regard location, access, scope of work etc. Photos are great. 3. Discuss with the plumber what items you are going to use i.e.. toilet suites and make sure they are compatible before you get the plumber out to install.

What makes your pricing competitive?

Low overheads and utilizing word of mouth by providing a professional service at the right price. I don't have thousands of $$$ in advertising that I have to pass on to the customer.

How do you normally charge for your service?

Most jobs can be quoted up front over the phone with some basic information and maybe a photo or two. Quotes that require a site visit are free. I have a $99 Minimum charge with covers the first hour.

Is there a particular aspect of your trade or industry that you specialise in?

I predominately service the hot water aspect of domestic plumbing. However I am qualified and experienced to take on any aspect of domestic or commercial plumbing.

I have been in the Plumbing industry since 1990. I hold licences for plumbing, gas fitting, drainage, roof plumbing, thermostatic mixing valves and backflow prevention devices.
