How did you decide to get into your line of work?

Becoming a furniture removalist never crossed the minds of Taz or I before entering the industry. I at the time was looking for a job and the company in the industry that i applied for had an opening. In saying that 7 years later and here i am, half owner of a company in an industry i adore. I love the thought of a morning that today I'm helping change life direction for someone, thats what gets me out of bed in the morning. I know that Taz feels the same, thats why we work so well as a team, a well oiled machine.

Do you have a favourite customer story you would like to share?

Towards the end of last year we had a referral come in from a client we recently moved. We arranged a time to view the job , meet the clients and provide them with a quote for their move. The job was for a family of 3, on the day of quoting we didn't get the chance to meet the kids as it was a school day. On the families move date we arrived, packed the truck and made our way to their new address. As we were unloading the families household items we got talking to the client and got to know her a little better, she went on to explain that her little boy had already been through 2 heart operations at the age of 7. To become aware of this little boys day to day struggle really hit us emotionally and definitely pulled on some heart strings. During the course of the afternoon we got to know the little boy and really felt a connection cause little did he know it we (the strong boys, who he called us) would leave there that day with more then a job well done. We got a text later on that night from the client saying that he now has our business card next to his signed Broncos picture cause we were heroes to him for moving his family. That little boy is more of a hero to us then he will ever know.

What do you like most about your job?

One of the biggest thing we love about our job and what we do is the knowing not only do we help people move house, we change lives everyday. Knowing that you have helped someone jump from one stepping stone to another is the greatest satisfaction of all.

What questions should a customer ask to hire the right service professional?

One of the biggest problems some consumers have is that when making the initial call to hire a service or trade is that the customer service over the phone is exceptional and when the service or trade turns up onsite the level of customer service is the other end of the scale. Make sure to ask questions that are important to you as a consumer, your questions or queries are totally different to those of your friends or neighbours

One of the most commonly asked questions we receive at Shifter Removals is "do you guys dissemble beds and any other furniture that may be dissembled on the day and do you guys reassemble at the other end" We at shifter Removals will most certainly dissemble beds or any other furniture that may have to be dissembled on the day and we will most certainly reassemble all items taken apart at your new place. We do inform customers that the time consumed for us to dissemble beds and furniture can slow the move down and can become costly being on an hourly rate and all.

We like to know as much about your move as possible before submitting a quote, such as amount to be moved, access dynamics of both addresses, parking for the truck on the day and if you have any special requirements e.g Pianos or Pool Tables

The key to a low cost move is preparation: 1) Try to Prep your furniture e.g.. Beds dissembled 2) Anything not getting moved clearly labelled 3) Loose, fiddly and unprotected items can become time    consuming for us to pack in the truck

Due to both owners of the business performing our clients moves we can offer $139/h 7 days a week. We feel that our hourly rate is highly competitive and our quality of service is unchallenged

How do you normally charge for your service?

We have a portable eftpos machine that is located in the truck to allow our customers to pay by card. Also available is EFT only if prior arrangement has been made.

Our industry is purely based on Furniture Removals, so in saying that Shifter Removals specialise in providing a great moving experience from the initial phone call or email ,right through too the finished job!

Lucky for Taz and I , when we met we were working for a large removal company that had a training program that was what i felt second to none. Their training program taught us everything we needed to know to have the skills and methods needed to move a home or business the right way and the safest way. Having all the skills and qualifications needed to move a customers house is great and shows customers you know what your doing, but you also need to possess great customer service skills. Here at Shifter Removals we pride ourselves on not only   on making moving stress free, easy and providing peace of mind but ensuring that our customer service is second to none. We are hoping move by move , to replenish quality customer service back into a industry that hasn't got the best customer service reputation.
