Are you an insured business and do you guarantee your work?

We are a registered busines and also carry public liability insurance. Our work is guaranteed on our service and prints and products for which we provide.

How did you decide to get into your line of work?

I was helping someone in Antarctica keep in touch with the outside world. He asked me to take photos of this and that as he was their for nearly two years and felt very isolated. It was from that point I went and I learnt my craft, extended it to the world and became who I am today.

Do you have a favourite customer story you would like to share?

All my sessions are great, and occasionally I get a child in to the studio who is very shy. We had this one child who didn't want to have a bar of having photos taken. This is where we had our work cut out for us. It was a challenge but not impossible. We just had to adjust to accommodate this little Miss and get down to her level. The camera didn't even make an appearance until she was ready. It took a little longer but it was well worth it. The photos were beautiful and full of smiles and underneath the shy was a happy little girl.

What do you like most about your job?

I love the people, when I see their reactions when they see their photos for the first time my heart just explodes. It is priceless when a mum sheds a tear during her newborn slide show, that is when I know I have done my job right.

What questions should a customer ask to hire the right service professional?

Accepted Answer

A customer should ask:  are you a professional? Do you have samples of your work? is your business registered? How long have you been a professional? Will my photos still look good in 100 years time? Many questions but a customer needs to research, research, research. Check out their work, ask to see samples. Does it fit your style, do you like the samples. What is important to you? The cost or quality?  Don't rely on testimonials alone as they can be non genuine. In the photography industry there are many people claiming to be photographers. They are mostly recognisable by the quality of their work, but mostly by what they are charging. If it is all files on a disk for $50 chances are they are not professional, have no insurance, don't pay taxes.

What questions do customers commonly ask and how would you answer them?

Q.Do we provide digital files from our sessions. A. Yes we do. Your first 10 digital files form part of the session fee. Additional files can be purchased separately or as a premium collection. You can also purchase the essentials print starter pack which includes 6 x 4" proof of each file in the collection, and three 5 x 7 candid mount prints of your choice from the collection.

What makes you the most reliable and trustworthy person for the job?

At SteavieLea photography we care about our clients. Right from the word go we are building a relationship in order to maximize our clients experience with us. We are dealing with tiny people and it is our aim to have their parents feel safe with us and comfortable in our studio or while we are in their home or in the field.

Our Studio is committed to give you an experience and beautiful images that will last a lifetime. Our aim is to offer a professional service, with beautifully captured images of you and your loved ones. It is also important to note. When hiring a newborn photographer it is very important to know that they have experience in handling newborns. Safety should be the photographers focus. It takes many years to learn how to pose a newborn safely and comfortably.

What are the typical things that you need to know before you can provide a quote to a customer?

We will need to know if you require a newborn or child/family  session. Our newborn sessions take a couple of hours to allow for feeding changing and settling. They are priced differently. We will need a suitable time and date required, an email address and contact number.

What makes your pricing competitive?

Our pricing is structured to be affordable for what we offer. We believe in you get what you pay for and if our competitors pricing is remarkably low, then the quality of their work is more than likely to be of a low standard.  We include an in person slide show of your images. We can do this in our studio or in your home.

How do you normally charge for your service?

Accepted Answer

I ask for a 20% non refundable deposit when booking a session. This is necessary to hold a booking date to be paid either in cash, direct bank deposit or Paypal.  We do this to help keep our sessions fair for others wanting to book with us, especially during our busy times. When a session has been cancelled, it directly affects the photographer and any potential clients who may have wanted to book that specific date.

What experience, skills, qualifications or training do you have to make you the right person for the job?

I have over 10 years experience as a photographer. I produce fine art photography, which is all about getting your personality to shine through in your photos. The end result  are beautifully edited images in either colour or black and white.
