Are you an insured business and do you guarantee your work?

I am insured for professional Indemnity.  I guarantee my work, by having the couple and myself sign a contract that outlines my fees, and what they can expect for that, and what refunds if any they would get, in cases of cancellation.

How did you decide to get into your line of work?

I had been doing funeral services and civil ceremonies for family and friends for a few years and someone suggested I should do it professionally, and the someone suggested broadening my skills and becoming a registered marriage celebrant, and I haven't looked back.

Do you have a favourite customer story you would like to share?

Accepted Answer

Yes, my very first wedding was a young couple, working hard to save for their wedding, but then had to cancel after experiencing some difficulties.  But a year later they came back and reorganised the wedding, and the wedding dress was spectacular, it was period dress, hand made and so were the groom and groomsmen.  It fitted their personalities so well, i(nstead of the normal white or off white dress), the bridesmaids were also wonderful carrying paraols.  It was and remains my favorite wedding.

What do you like most about your job?

Each job is different, but I love working with people, whether it is a wedding, naming, or committment etc, and seeing their ceremony come to fruition they way they wanted it, and for me it is an honour and a priviledge at such an intimitate time of their lives.

What questions should a customer ask to hire the right service professional?

Asking a celebtant about experience is always helpful, how far a celebrant is willing to travel to do a ceremony, if a celebrant has a website that they can look at.

What questions do customers commonly ask and how would you answer them?

The first thing a couple will ask is the price- then they want to know if you are available, if I am, then I send them a letter outlining my costs and what they can expect for that-

What makes you the most reliable and trustworthy person for the job?

If I say I am going to do something for someone I do it, I have been described as a 'dog with a bone'- and will always be flexible to accomodate any unexpected changes that might occur.

Why should a customer hire you over another service provider?

Because I give a professional service, with integrity and I endeavour to accomodate couples requests regarding their ceremony to the best of my ability. I have great time management skills so I am never late for any meeting or ceremony.

What are the typical things that you need to know before you can provide a quote to a customer?

The date of ceremony,  where the ceremony will be held,, what nationality they are so that I can tell them what paper work I would need to sight, their age, and whether or not we would need a guardian or interpretor.

How can a customer save money before you start the work? Please give 3 tips

By not always assuming that if a celebrant is offering a cheaper price that they will give a good service.  Most celebrants are ethical in their standards and cheap means cheap.

Are there any special offers you would like to offer to Oneflare customers?

If a one flare customer wants me and is willing to transfer a deposit to sercure that date, before we meet to commence paper work then I will give a 5% discount as long as the deposit is done on the day of booking.

What makes your pricing competitive?

My price is in line with  most other celebrants in my area, but I am willing to negotiate a price if I feel there is a genuine hardship, but my price is indicitive of the value I give.

How do you normally charge for your service?

Accepted Answer

A deposit is paid when the paperwork commences at the first meeting, or if the couple just want to sercure a date until we meet. The balance is paid at the rehearsal, or a week before the ceremony. If it is a funeral, the funeral director will pay me, the family pay them.

Is there a particular aspect of your trade or industry that you specialise in?

I like to think I specialise in all my ceremonies, as I give attention to everything a couple of family require, regardless of what type of service, weddings through to funerals

What experience, skills, qualifications or training do you have to make you the right person for the job?

I have many years experience working with people from differnet culture and backgrounds, and of all ages and genders. Over many years I have had the opportunity to be a public speaker, ceremonies and book launches.
