Frequently Asked Questions
Why should a customer hire you over another service provider?
Concreting can be a hit and miss service with whom you employ. With 25 years concreting experience and the knowledge I only employ professional skilled concreters to assist me on your project you will be delighted with a hassle free concreting experience.
What experience, skills, qualifications or training do you have to make you the right person for the job?
Currently there is no trade school for a concreter so all experience and skills are learnt hands on at job sites. I pride myself on being punctual and keeping my clients informed. Concreting has been my full time employment since 1989 and this experience makes me the right person for your project.
Is there a particular aspect of your trade or industry that you specialise in?
Whilst I'm happy to attend to any form of concrete I would specialize in decorative finishes such as exposed aggregate and stencil patterns.
How do you normally charge for your service?
Usually concreting requires a site inspection for quoting. This would include materials and labour costs in one fixed price. Alternatively a day rate can be organized for labour only.
What makes your pricing competitive?
Concrete should be laid to last and quality in workmanship is required for this to be achieved. My pricing will be competitive with those who demand the same quality,
How can a customer save money before you start the work? Please give 3 tips
I'm flexible with my work practice and am willing for you to help if you want. This may include laboring on site (a wheelbarrow hand) or excavating an area before my commencement. You may wish to supply materials, all these will help in reducing costs.
What are the typical things that you need to know before you can provide a quote to a customer?
Site inspections are required, I need to know the amount of excavations required, the area you wish to concrete as well as the design or finish you require. It is possible to quote on more than one finish if needed.
What makes you the most reliable and trustworthy person for the job?
I take pride in being punctual and providing my clients with an enjoyable concreting experience. I'll treat your property with the respect I would expect with someone working at mine.
What questions do customers commonly ask and how would you answer them?
Can you work cheaper for a cash price? (yes) and what is your expected starting time? (this depends on current workload and weather conditions) I don't pour in poor weather conditions and this may result in time delays.
What questions should a customer ask to hire the right service professional?
I provide a written quotation listing all work and material specifications I'm using. You need to compare apples with apples so I'd be concerned with anyone who lacks this information. Questions such as concrete strength/thickness and what size reinforcing is used are important.
What do you like most about your job?
Easily the best part is creating an area that brings joy to the client. There's a sense of accomplishment in building something that's tangible.
How did you decide to get into your line of work?
I previously worked in an office but had family who concreted. The opportunity arose to work with them and working outdoors appealed. It was a leap of faith back then but one I've never looked back on.
