How did you decide to get into your line of work?

My father was an architect, my two brothers were studying architecture, and although I contemplated interior design, I guess that graphic (visual) design was in my blood... and I don't think my mother wanted another architect in the family ;)

What do you like most about your job?

I love working with clients when we can both have a bit of fun. I have a client who keeps coming up with some great marketing ideas. We brainstorm quite a bit, and then work out a priority work list of what is doable within her monthly marketing budget.

What questions should a customer ask to hire the right service professional?

It's probably best to ask what the professional specializes in. Most people are upfront about their strengths and weaknesses. If they don't know something, they should be able to refer you to the right service professional.

What questions do customers commonly ask and how would you answer them?

The most common question is "How much is a brochure, website or logo?", etc. Naturally the answer usually depends on what is involved. Do you already have your copy written or do you need help with it? Do you already have high resolution images, or do we need to either find something for you? Once we've discussed what you need, I can send you a more accurate price to complete the job for you.

I can offer you 20 years of professional experience in graphic design, media and marketing - its like I'm your marketing department that doesn't take up any office space!

Before I can provide a quote or estimate I would need to know the scope of the work you require and whether or not you have a budget that you need to work to. That way we can both look at the big picture together and tailor your budget to your needs.

How can a customer save money before you start the work? Please give 3 tips

1. Check to see what your competitors are doing, and decide on your unique selling point. (USP).  2. Look at the most effective way to talk to your customers. You might find that direct response or social media (and building a database) is better than putting an ad in the paper, or, that an ad in the paper and an event is better for a product launch.  3. Look at all of your marketing for a full calendar year, and then plan ahead to make the most of your opportunities.

What makes your pricing competitive?

It's quite often the 'tone of voice' of your copy writing, the type of offers you have, and the targeting of your marketing etc., that will get customers to contact you. By giving you this knowledge I will also give you better value for money.

I normally charge on a per hour basis, or I can give you an upfront quote/estimate.

I'm a graphic designer who also looks at the big picture. So rather than looking at a one off project, I can work with you to build a corporate identity and a long term marketing plan where we can capture opportunities as they arise.
