How did you decide to get into your line of work?

My grandfather was a concreter and my father has concrete trucks so I suppose concrete is in my blood. I started working in concrete pumps when I was seventeen, moving on to working in a concrete crew and learning to be a concrete finisher. I then moved into form work carpentry and steel fixing.

What do you like most about your job?

I would have to say that after nearly twenty years of concreting I never get tired and I still get the satisfaction every time I finish a concrete job. I would say I get most satisfied from domestic work and decorative concrete.

A customer should ask what experience they have. Please remember that with concrete you only get one opportunity to correctly install so avoid anybody who is rushing you to make decisions.

What questions do customers commonly ask and how would you answer them?

The most common question customers ask is in relation with concrete cracking. We like to saw cut all areas no greater than fifteen sqm and we use able flex when concrete comes in contact with any hard surfaces in order for the concrete not to crack.

We strive to give our customers satisfaction. Our commitment and passion to deliver is very real. I love what i do and our philosophy is to do something once but to do it well. I think this can be seen in our finished products.

- By having all building approvals and permits in place before we start. - Creating a job program so we do not clash with other trades. - Having information on all undergrpund services and pipe work relating to their job site.

What makes your pricing competitive?

That depends who I am competing against. My prices are fair and I have set rates for everything. I assure you I will not be the cheapest but if you want quality at a fair price I am your man.

How do you normally charge for your service?

Accepted Answer

Usually depending on the size of job I request ten percent cash deposit on start with forty percent send on completion of excavation transferred or cash and fifty percent when the work is completed. This may vary depending on the job.

Is there a particular aspect of your trade or industry that you specialise in?

Decorative concreting i.e. Stamped and exposed with added colour. Pouring and finishing large areas. All aspects of form work and steel fixing.

What experience, skills, qualifications or training do you have to make you the right person for the job?

I hold over twenty years experience in concrete finishing. I am also a fully qualified structural form work carpenter, covering everything from driveways to full structural i.e. Suspended floors, staircases and lift shafts.
