How did you decide to get into your line of work?

After losing a substantial amount of weight myself over 10 years ago, I decided that I wanted to help others achieve their health and fitness dreams, so I studied to become a personal trainer. Shortly after that I returned to university to study towards becoming an Exercise Physiologist.The rest is history!

Do you have a favourite customer story you would like to share?

I recently helped an 18 year old client who had had her thyroid removed due to cancer. I visited her three times a week over a three month period. Her goals were; to reduce her nausea; have increased energy; improve her general fitness and flexibility; and improve her mood.  After an initial assessment we worked together using a range of different exercises to keep the sessions fun and fresh. It was also very important to ensure tasks were challenging yet achievable since she is competitive in nature and received a psychological boost when she conquered a session.  I re-tested the client every four weeks and by the end of the three months she had increased her muscular strength by 60% and more than doubled her cardiorespiratory fitness. Her flexibility had also increased by 40%. She reported a huge improvement in mood and energy levels although her nausea fluctuated with changes in medication and in response to chemotherapy sessions during this time.

I enjoy helping people getting out of a hard place in their lives. Giving them confidence, energy and the ability to enjoy their lives, avoiding chronic illness and being strong for their families.

Q. I'm quite unfit. Do I need to have a certain level of fitness before I can see you? A. No you don't. If you pass my pre-exercise questionnaire criteria then you are good to go. My workouts are designed to be challenging for all fitness levels and abilities.  Q. What results will I get? A. Your strength and stamina will increase, your muscles will get stronger and more toned. You will notice serious improvements in your energy and fitness levels. I will do everything I can to enable you to succeed. I want you to rave about me to your friends and family just like my other customers do!

Customers should hire me because I have the highest level of fitness training as an Accredited Exercise Physiologist. This means I have studied for 4 years at university and undertaken over 500 hours of clinical practicum. My services also attract private health and medicare rebates which means I am actually better value than hiring a standard personal trainer.

As an Exercise Physiologist, I specialise in exercise prescription, monitoring, and education for the prevention and management of chronic diseases and injuries. I provide support for people with the following conditions or concerns: •	Weight-management •	Chronic pain •	High blood pressure •	Cardiovascular disease •	Diabetes •	Osteoporosis and arthritis •	Chronic pain and fatigue •	Musculoskeletal injury and post-surgical rehabilitation •	Neuromuscular conditions (multiple sclerosis, cerebral palsy, Parkinsons disease) •	Heart disease •	Physical disabilities, physical restrictions, and/or limited mobility •	Respiratory diseases and Asthma  I also offer assessment and treatment for those with no known conditions in order to help better achieve goals, improve health, and prevent injuries and health conditions.

With a Bachelor of Exercise and Movement Science, specialising in Clinical Exercise Rehabilitation, I have been working within community health and well-being programs since 2008. My scope of industry experience includes working in pulmonary diagnostics at The Wesley Private Hospital and teaching anatomy and physiology at Queensland University of Technology.
