Are you an insured business and do you guarantee your work?

I am insured through the Australian Marriage Celebrants association for public liability. I have a responsibility through the code of practice to deliver in a legal and ethical way. I have witnessed weddings in the past that seem to be all about the celebrant. I can guarantee that your wedding will be about you!

How did you decide to get into your line of work?

The kids were all grown up and my wife and I wanted to do something together like we used to do before kids, although that was mostly sporting and camping type things. For couples it's kind of like getting two for the price of one as she is a wonderful celebrant and trainer in her own right.

Do you have a favourite customer story you would like to share?

Accepted Answer

Many, One where I sang on a beach to the couple walking down the aisle together, another where I had to be the Mad Hatter wearing a large green hat, saying,"It's late It's late for a very important date", prior to the bride coming down the aisle. But too many single out. I love them all!

What do you like most about your job?

This is easy! I love being with people at this very special time in their lives. I am honoured to be part of the joy and love they share and privileged to be invited to share in this moment. It gives me pleasure and pride to help guide couples through this wonderful experience.

What questions should a customer ask to hire the right service professional?

Accepted Answer

Ask for references and how long they have been in the industry. Get quote in writing (detailing performance). If that celebrant is not right, ask them to recommend another (don't be scared to do this). There are good and bad celebrants out there so don't settle for just anyone. Trust is everything.

It varies. Some are very experienced and well prepared, others need complete guidance. The most important thing is not the questions asked but the feeling of trust they have in you and your ability to reassure them of your undivided care and support through the entire process, not just at a first meeting.

What makes you the most reliable and trustworthy person for the job?

You don't last this long in the industry if you weren't reliable and trustworthy. While running my training company I relied only on word of mouth rather than advertising and this was sufficient for me to have ample work. My testimonials speak better of me than I could of myself.

Gary has been described as the celebrants celebrant. As well as being a performer and musician, he has been a trainer of celebrants for over ten years. Gary will help create a wedding which is fun, memorable and meets the couples personality and expression of love for one another.

What are the typical things that you need to know before you can provide a quote to a customer?

Where/when the ceremony is being held, any physical resources required, anticipated style of the service. Eg. elopement may take 10 minutes in a back yard compared to a hand fasting service involving family and friends. Will you require a MC afterward? No two are the same, your wedding is unique.

How can a customer save money before you start the work? Please give 3 tips

Your time is a cost to you, so be prepared. Check what items you require for your first meeting with your celebrant well before you meet. Discuss what tone you're looking for and anything that may be unique to your wedding (rituals etc). Leave the rest to me, you have enough to keep you busy! : )

What makes your pricing competitive?

I have various packages according to the needs of the couple ranging from elopements to grand scale productions where I have in the past acted roles and sung songs. Whether small or large your wedding should be memorable, heart felt and good value for money within your budget, but never cheap.

How do you normally charge for your service?

Accepted Answer

Payment varies according to the couples needs. Accounts are to be settled at least one week prior to the wedding.There is a booking fee on confirmation which guarantees a dedicated time for the couple. I have many enquiries and hate disappointing couples who wished they booked at the time.

As an experienced trainer of celebrants I have vast knowledge in all aspects of the wedding ceremony offering unique and diverse options that meets a couples needs. I also have a wide variety of ceremony accessories including chairs, carpets, signing tables, arbours, flowers etc.

What experience, skills, qualifications or training do you have to make you the right person for the job?

I have been a theatre performer for over 30 years, school teacher (20 yrs) and a celebrant for over ten years, often singing at weddings and playing guitar. I train celebrancy and public speaking through my company Rose Training Australia and most importantly, I love what I do.
