Are you an insured business and do you guarantee your work?

I hold Professional Indemnity insurance to the standard required by the Tax Practitioners Board. While my Tax Agent Registration requires that every income tax return that I prepare is accurate, I cannot guarantee that the ATO will not conduct an audit on any tax return that I prepare and lodge.

How did you decide to get into your line of work?

I have always enjoyed helping people, and preparing income tax returns brings together my professional interests of accounting and applying the law (mainly income tax, but also other types of law), and my interest in helping people to understand how the tax law affects their own tax return.

Talking to people about how the income tax laws affect them and how their tax affairs are accurately shown in their own income tax return.

How many clients like me do you have? How much do you charge? Do you have the experience to understand my circumstances. Do you do all of the work yourself? (and the answer is yes)!

Will I get a refund? is the most common question, and the answer is that it all depends on their income, what deductions they can legally claim, what tax offsets they might be entitled to, and how much tax has already been withheld or paid to the ATO.

Clients see me each year because they trust me, they value the friendly and professional service that I offer and they appreciate the depth of my knowledge about the income tax law.

What are the typical things that you need to know before you can provide a quote to a customer?

Each client needs to know the type of income that will go into their tax return, eg wages, salary, interest and dividends, rental income, and/or business income. From there, I can ask about the types of expenses that could be deducted from that income.

How can a customer save money before you start the work? Please give 3 tips

Get all of your income and deduction records together before you see me. If you have a rental property, keep records of all the income and expenses for the property. Remember that the Tax Office expects that you will be able to substantiate all claims for deductions.

What makes your pricing competitive?

My fees represents the value that you get from a fully qualified tax agent whose work is trusted by all of my current clients. My fees will always be tax deductible in next year's income tax return.

How do you normally charge for your service?

I charge a competitive fee for each income tax return for each year. Additional fees apply to rental property schedules, capital gains tax calculations, sole traders in business, and any other additional schedules.

Is there a particular aspect of your trade or industry that you specialise in?

I prepare individual tax returns. Further, my experience, knowledge and systems allow me to also complete prior year, and late-lodged tax returns going back as far as the 2001 financial year.

I have experience and a track record of preparing individual income tax returns for a wide variety of clients. I am a Registered Tax Agent with tertiary level accounting qualifications, and I maintain my Continuing Professional Development training activities, as required.
