I recently acted for a mother whose child had been abused by the father over several years.    We successfully obtained orders in the Family Court of Australia for our client to have full custody of the child, protecting mother and child from further abuse.

Question 1 - How much will it cost? I tell them this depends 100% on the nature and complexity of your case. As part of your free consultation wish us, we will provide you with potential costs and send you a formal letter with the cost estimate details straight after our meeting. Question 2 - Will I go to jail or can you get me off my charges? As per above, this depends 100% on a number of things such as the facts, your criminal record (if you have one) and the nature or seriousness of the offence. Many offences can result in a section 10 with no conviction, a good behaviour or more serious penalties. We will advise guide and advise you from the outset of what we think. Question 3 (for family law matters) - will we end up in court? We always aim to resolve matters out of court through our own representations and mediation but sometimes, if the other party does not want to settle a matter out of court then we have to end up there and that can't be avoided. Be assured only a small number of our matters end up in court which is a good indication of our proven and successful track record at resolving matters privately.

Important details about your case so think about the who, what, when where why and how. We also need to know details of other people that are involved such as a witness, a family member or other. For criminal matters your criminal history (if you have one) and is it the first time your matter is appearing in court.
