Be sure to know exactly what you're after -- Draw web page mockups on paper to ensure you visually know what you want -- Know the exact functionality that each web page is meant to do -- Know how many revisions you're after (most people choose 2 - 3) -- Provide your chosen developer with the aforementioned requirements  Ask for an hourly rate over a project rate as developers cover unforeseen circumstances in project rates and easily double or triple the cost -- Knowing exactly what you're after will allow the developer to better provide a more accurate estimate if choosing an hourly rate
