Are you an insured business and do you guarantee your work?

Shadowtek will Guarantee all work, the way we work is to work will you, we ask what you want, make suggestions and improve any areas, discuss effects for search engine optimisation, customer interaction and look and feel.  We then go off and build you site.  We then ask the client to look and search through the site, making a list of changes, ideas and features that are wanted, as many clients get a flow of ideas after the initial build.  We then discuss and implement any changes and ideas, before handing over for a final walkthrough and going live.  This whole process takes around 4 - 10 days depending on how quickly information is supplied.

How did you decide to get into your line of work?

I started designing sites for friends and families, gradually building it into a business, initially like most companies, i was aiming for high profile, and very profitable jobs.  I then got married, and my wife started designing small business sites, i realised how much more enjoyable it was to actually know your clients, and help them grow, we then joined forces and have dedicated our time to helping small business's in any way we possibly can.

Do you have a favourite customer story you would like to share?

We enjoy all our customers, some of the most misguided people come to us.  Take one client, sha came to us after having another company build her site, she paid $3000, was handed a template, with basic information thrown in, there was no contact page, no photo's and many spelling mistakes. She was then told she would be invoiced $5 for every spelling mistake corrected...  We redesigned her site, to exactly how she wanted it added many features, intergrated a shopping cart. worked for 3 weeks to get this site just right ( customer kept changing her mind over and over because she loved having a choice)  Her invoice with shadowtek was $894, she has since tripled her orders online, and is thinking about buying a business office, out of the home.  We have just finished adding more features site wide, and this client could not be happier.

What do you like most about your job?

Being part of a growing business, most people come to us not understanding how google and other search engines work, confused about what to expect from a designer. We love helping people, although it seems unprofessional at times compared to other business's we welcome anyone, cant find a baby sitter, well bring the kids, if you need to keep us on hold whilst you deal eith another business call, thats not a problem. We also find alot of our customers prefer evenings to chat about their site and needs as most business' s are busy during the day.

They best advice i can give is make sure any business you look at and talk to takes the time to answer your questions.  At the end of a phone call you should feel like you understand what is needed from you and what the process will be.

How can a customer save money before you start the work? Please give 3 tips

Please speak to us, many clients are told they need specialised features and expensive designs so that their website preforms better, this is not always the case, many small business's can start small and build their website and the business grows, huge outlays are not needed.  Business's should not charge their clients for word changes, this is a 30 second job and many clients have come to us after huge invoices for simple word changes. Shadowtek does this free, the only stipulation we have is we operate our free non urgent support on a first in first serve basis.  Check your quote, at Shadowtek we see many small business's missing out, a designer will design, but will they teach you how to use your site? make small changes? set up emails? These are the little things we believe sets Shadowtek apart from the rest, We will build your site, providing training and instructions on how to make small changes and updating content wherever possible, we are always available to help as well, but some clients like to learn themselves. We will do whatever possible to help you and your business succeed.

We have set prices that are kept low, as we have no desire to join thee big boys and join the rat race, we work from home, allowing us to be flexible on price keeping overheads low. We own our servers, and do jot have to outlay money to third party organisations and pass these savings on to you. Small business websites, offer a custom design, domain name, 1 years hosting and full support for around $ 350.00  Shopping cart solutions offer full site design, hosting, domain name, Australia post intergration, paypal, intergration, and support for around $800.00  Hosting is renewed every 12 months approx $100- $ 150 domain name renewed every 2 years approx $40  Additional services are available and all costs are discussed beforehand. in most cases the price above is correct.
