How did you decide to get into your line of work?

Mark has always loved everything electrical and played batteries and wires from a tiny tot. It was a natural progression to become a sparky. He has never looked back  and now has worked as a sparky for 39 years.

Do you have a favourite customer story you would like to share?

A customer at Pelican Waters had been told by 3 different electricians that she could not get her pool onto Tariff 33 because her meter box was too remote from the house. After liaising with Energex we found a way it could be done and she is now saving hundreds of dollars a year on her pool running costs.

Finishing jobs that other electricians put it the "too hard" basket and solving persistent electrical problems that others couldn't. We also love helping customers reduce their energy bills through our energy audits and gird connected solar systems.

Of course, we provide free quotes and advice.

What are the typical things that you need to know before you can provide a quote to a customer?

We need to have precise details about the job . For instance, how many lights, what type they are, what sort of power point etc. For ceiling fans we will need to know what type of ceiling you have - is there access?  Details matter as they can greatly affect the time the job takes or even whether it is possible to do. Much of this can be discussed over the phone though, so no need to write an essay for us to give you a quote!

How can a customer save money before you start the work? Please give 3 tips

Time is money, so anything that saves us time saves the customer money.   Let us know exactly and precisely what jobs are required before we get there, so we can ensure we have all the necessary material on board the van.  Ensure that we have quick and ready access to all areas where the work is to be done. ie: move the bed or furniture if required; have space and access to the manhole etc.  We are happy to clean up our own mess and usually do, but if the customer is happy to do the cleaning up, that makes the job quicker and saves you money.

Our service call charge also incorporates the first hour of work. We do not charge a call out fee. Our staff are all very experienced and efficient so there is no time wasted - that means lower prices for you.

After the job is competed we calculate the costs of the material and labour back at the office, raise an invoice  and send it to you by email preferably, or post if necessary. Payment terms are 7 days.

We are members of the Electrical Contracting Association, Accredited Master Electrician, Clean Energy Council accredited,  Energy Efficiency accredited, BRCA Registered Cablers and offer Senior's card holders a 5% discount. Our customers constantly provide us with positive feedback about the attitudes and friendliness of our staff and the high quality and speed of their work.
