Accepted Answer

Yes. And my guarantee is binding for 7 years. My service is honest. I will never charge extra for cheap imported  switches and outlets but will cost according to what the customer is willing.

Customers often tell me "I dont want to be charged too much how much will it cost" I usually tell them so that so long as you keep  with the original plans it'll only cost you so much. Here is my quote (Sum) but if you think you will probably want other things then maybe you would like to consider my hourly rate of $77 an hour. The only extra costs will be for what it costs me for goods and materials. You wont even have to pay me for fuel and travel expenses to get to your job.   Customers want to be assured that their work will be done properly. I tell them that I include a 100 percent lifetime guarantee on their invoice.  Customers always tell me by their expressions that they are nervous. This way they tell that they are concerned about their house being disturbed.

Why should a customer hire you over another service provider?

Dr Switch Electrical Services declare a life time guarantee, and if there is any fault we repair it without extra cost. We insist on cleaning after ourselves and we carry a portable in-car vacuum cleaner.  ABOVE THAT we exclusively service domestic clients. We raise the question, how can an electrician who divides his skills among industrial and commercial work possibly be as efficient and capable as an electrician who  solely works in residential maintenance. Who would you prefer to service your home?

What are the typical things that you need to know before you can provide a quote to a customer?

Usually the location of the switchboard relative to the task required helps if the job involves a new circuit, for example, with a new air conditioning unit.   Urgency is also a consideration.  Complicated jobs. Age of replacement of old appliance. Type of external walls (Fibro, Double brick, brick veneer, etc).

Be clear about what you want from the start and always avoid variations. Choose standard installations that are in sync with trends or mainstream. That means staying away from exotic features. And choose a local tradesman.

Nothing. Our objective is to offer customers value for money. We want them to smile every time they experience our work. A lifetime of satisfaction is worth far more than a discount and the annoyance that often comes with a less than ideally applied installation.

How do you normally charge for your service?

I usually make an assessment based on complexity. If I can do the job quickly I'll give a low quote. If it is more involved I'll charge hourly. This is because it is impossible to predict all the variables and t suits the client if they wish to add any variations to their original plans. This eliminates the expensive charges tradespeople apply to customer variations.

We specialise in domestic maintenance. We target work including renovations and even domestic construction. We are also involved in design and custom lighting including mood lighting and features. Feature lighting is becoming very valuable as a centre piece and is generally quite affordable.

First and foremost are the soft skills. You must be able to engage with a customer at a personal level. You must be able to consult and communicate with the customer and understand what their needs are and then base your service on an agreed solution. Only after these, then you apply your technical trade skills and deliver with the utmost respect for the clients environment.
