My plastering business gives the people who live on the East Coast of Tasmania an alternative to paying the huge traveling costs involved if they were to employ plastering tradesman from the major city of Launceston. I have 20 years industry experience and pride myself in quality workmanship.
What experience, skills, qualifications or training do you have to make you the right person for the job?
Experience: 20 years in Hobart doing some of Tasmanias biggest projects. Qualification: Certificate III Wall and Ceiling Linings (Trade Certification) Training: 4 year Apprenticeship, 16 years as a Tradesman
Is there a particular aspect of your trade or industry that you specialise in?
I am fully qualified and have trained on many big commercial jobs. I can provide my clients domestic plastering applications and commercial plastering applications. I can even do government tenders as i have all the licenses and insurances to do so.
How do you normally charge for your service?
Large plastering jobs are quoted per Sqare Metre While small intricate detailed work is usually charged at an hourly rate. It really depends on the job itself

Being a local tradesman my quotes do not have the huge travelling costs involved if the client were to employ tradesman from launceston
How can a customer save money before you start the work? Please give 3 tips
1) Make sure job is actually ready to start, no delays. 2) Try and remove furniture out of way for easy access to work 3) Make sure all furniture is covered properly before tradesman get onsite
What are the typical things that you need to know before you can provide a quote to a customer?
Usually i need to know the sqm of the house or the room i'm doing. If it's cornice or square set things like that but mainly the size of the job is most important.
Are you an insured business and do you guarantee your work?
Yes i am fully insured both public liability to 20 million and personal injury insurance aswell. I also use CSR product which gives the client a warranty for breakdowns if the tradesman does the finishing properly. Which basically means a 3 coat system 2 base and 1 top coat.
What makes you the most reliable and trustworthy person for the job?
I am the owner/operator of my business. I mostly perform all the work myself thus ensuring a quality finish for my customers
What questions should a customer ask to hire the right service professional?
Are you a qualified tradesman and can i see your trade certificate please. Also ask for examples of previous work
What do you like most about your job?
Going to different places every week and meeting new clients all the time. Repeat work i like also, it means the customer was happy last time
Do you have a favourite customer story you would like to share?
Yes. A lady i worked for an elder lady was building a centre for the local community to help the ever increasing problem of drug addiction. She was wonderful and very caring, a real inspiration

How did you decide to get into your line of work?
After i left the Royal Australian Navy way back in the 90's i started my plastering career with my father in law who was working full time for a company in Hobart. Have been plastering ever since!
