Interview with Oneflare Wedding Photographer
Did you know that an incredible 326 weddings take place in Australia every day, with 3000 photos being taken on average at a single wedding. It’s therefore no surprise that professional wedding photographers typically spend up to 8 hours taking photos at each stage of the wedding day. Photographers are able to capture magical moments of the day, everything from the bride getting ready, the ceremony, the bride and groom saying their vows, the speeches to the first dance.
We speak to professional wedding photographer Eliza from Eliza Mitchell Photography, to find out about the latest themes in wedding photography, her favourite moments from the day to capture and when brides-to-be should be looking to hire a photographer. Eliza operates throughout the Central Coast, Lake Macquarie, Newcastle, Hunter Valley and Northern Beaches, who has been in the business for the last 12 years and has shot around 350 weddings.
What are some popular themes you are seeing a wedding Photographer?
I’m certainly seeing a lot more rustic style weddings. Beach and Kombi weddings are always popular. The most popular colours currently are dusty pink & white, blue & deep red, lavender & lilac.
How would you best describe your photography style?
My work can be described as natural, timeless and candid.
What do you enjoy the most about being a wedding photographer?
I love getting to know the clients and hearing about their unique love story. I always get caught up in the moment and often shed a tear. A wedding is a very special day to be apart of and I never forget that.
What are the current photography trends that brides are following?
Definitely there has been a huge movement towards decoration and detail photos. Lense flare photos and the ever popular natural and candid looking photos.
Which is your favourite wedding tradition to capture on camera?
The first kiss! I love this shot and the photos that follow strait after the kiss, there’s so much love to capture.
How long in advance should brides be looking to hire a photographer for their wedding?
Brides should be looking to hire a wedding photographer approximately 6 to 12 months before their wedding date. This way they will avoid disappointment, as the best wedding photographers book up early.
What should brides look out for when hiring their photographer?
I would be looking very closely at the photos. They should have more than 50 images to view and be from a variety of weddings. Are the photos in focus with good lighting? How many weddings have they photographed. I would also check to see if they have public liability insurance. Be wary of photographers that promise 1000 plus photos, the best photographers average about 80 good images per hour.
