Are you an insured business and do you guarantee your work?

I am insured but I hope to never have to make a claim. I am careful not to cause damages. I guarantee my work and will always return to repair any issues that are caused through fault of my work. Theses things can happen but I don't leave the job unless the client is satisfied I have completed the required work.

How did you decide to get into your line of work?

I was bored of working for the same company for so long and wanted to start my own business. I have fixed things all my life and it is a part of who I am so I decided I could use my skills to make a living.

I was lanced ask if I could install a toilet. I told the client that I could and when I got there I found that it was all non standard parts. 2 tradesmen before me had taken her deposit and never returned. I tracked down the required parts and and stayed until the job was done. I hope that I have showed her that there are people who stick to their word.

What do you like most about your job?

I like the flexibility it provides me and the chance to meet different people. I also like the different range of jobs and the chance to fix something that that a client never thought could be fixed.

It depends on the job as to what questions to ask. If it is a job requiring a licenced builder,electrician or a plumber, I would suggest the customer as to see such a licence.

Clients usually ask if I am able to do the job,how long will it take, how much will it cost and how soon can I do it. Some clients will be looking for a solution to problem and will ask for ideas.

Having a police check, insurance and a trusted reputation makes me reliable. I turn up on time and I get the job done. Working in the aged care industry requires you to be reliable and trustworthy.

I am a fair person and believe in honesty. If I quote a job and the job comes in under price, I will only charge for the actual cost of the job. If clients don't trust me, my business will fail.

It's important to know the budget and what the clients expectations are. I can do a good cheap job or a great job. Will there be any interruptions to the job that could cause work to be held up. Will the quote require materials and labour .

Make a list of jobs that need to be done. Purchase the materials for the job if possible. Make sure the area to be worked on is accessible and tidy. Tidy up after the work is completed. Most importantly. Know what you want and how you would like it done.

During the winter months when work slows down, I like to offer a discounted rate between10-20% There is also the discount received when using my services at a day rate.

What makes your pricing competitive?

Most handyman services charge around the same rate but are still cheaper than calling in a qualified tradesman. Many tradesmen prefer to let the small jobs go in order to take on large contracts.

How do you normally charge for your service?

I prefer to quote on an hourly basis or a day rate. If a fixed quote is required I am happy to do so but I tend to allow for the hidden problems that tend to arise. I find there is no financial surprises for the client and I only charge what the job costs on completion which tends to leave the client happy.

My speciality is painting and problem solving. I spent many years manufacturing paint and applying paint. I recently completed a contract to repair and paint 50 rooms of a nursing home so I am no stranger to painting.

I have been fixing things for as long as I can remember. I have rebuilt cars and renovated homes. I have tiled,painted,repaired decks and pergolas,basic plumbing,paved,plastered,built fences and gates, cleaned gutters,patched holes, pressure cleaned,welded etc
