1. Are you fully insured? 2. Do you detail all of your windows? (that means, do you run a rag around all of the corners and wipe up any excess water you leave behind...some window cleaners will simply wash and wipe the glass, but not get into the corners with a drying rag). 3. For an accurate quote, ask the cleaner if their quote includes cleaning the tracks and screens (if that is what your require). 4. Ask for testimonials.

What are the typical things that you need to know before you can provide a quote to a customer?

How many windows are there and approximately what size are they? What type of windows (e.g. sliding aluminium framed, sash, louvre, frosted glass, etc.) Do you need the window tracks cleaned as well? Do you need screens cleaned as well? How accessible is the glass (ground floor, second floor, behind desks or furniture, gardens lining the house, etc.) When was the last time the windows were cleaned? Are there any paint, seeds, or other items that are stuck to the glass that needs removal?

How can a customer save money before you start the work? Please give 3 tips

1. Make sure all obstructions to accessing the glass is removed.  The more time needed to navigate around furniture, barriers, pets, etc. the longer the job and the more expensive. 2. If you have window (fly or security) screens and are able to remove them, do so. It saves time getting to the glass, and if you have having the screens cleaned as well, they are ready to go. 3. In between glass cleaning, DON'T rinse down the glass with hose water without wiping off the glass afterwards.  When tap water is left to dry on the glass, over a period of time calcium deposits build up and it can be very expensive to remove them.

VisiBel Group Window Cleaning only charges industry rates, so you know that you will never be overcharged for the job.  Be careful of companies that are quoting well under everyone else, make sure they have the appropriate insurances and are going to be around tomorrow if things go wrong.  Generally speaking, professional window cleaners are like any other trade, they have specific equipment and appropriate business licences, etc. for your protection.  A guy with a bucket and a rag may be cheap, but replacing scratched glass can be an expensive exercise, especially when your cleaner is not insured.

How do you normally charge for your service?

Each dwelling and work space is different, some have a lot of glass and others don't.  Some are cleaned regularly and some haven't been cleaned since the glass was installed.  So to provide an accurate quote without seeing the job is difficult.  Generally speaking we take three things into consideration when we quote: how much glass needs to be cleaned, how accessible the glass is, how dirty the glass is.  When asked to quote on a job, by providing answers to those questions, you can be confident you will get a very close estimate of the cost for the job.
