Are you an insured business and do you guarantee your work?

Our business is fully insured for public liability construction insurance, professional indemnity insurance and all projects are covered by QBCC home warranty insurance.

How did you decide to get into your line of work?

I have followed in my fathers footsteps as he was a bricklayer and then became a registered builder. I have always been involved in residential construction either through design and planning or the actual on site construction/ project management

Do you have a favourite customer story you would like to share?

Accepted Answer

I completed a new dwelling mid this year for a client and we were 2 weeks ahead of schedule. We had a lot of rain early on in the build but persevered nonetheless. The client was very happy with the result as previous builders had given them trouble and were not able to complete the works.

What do you like most about your job?

The fact that we start with a vacant site  with a few service pipes and at the end we have created/ built a house for someone to live in and enjoy. Likewise renovations are a great buzz, because the changes can be very dramatic and pleasing for both myself and customers.

Are you licensed and insured? Are you on site to supervise works during construction? Are you aware of all the latest building codes Do you use materials and products approved/certified for and appropriate for use in the particular area of construction. For e.g. are plumbing items "Watermark" cert.

What is the time frame required for planning and construction? Each project is unique but rule of thumb is for new homes allow for 6 months total, & for renovation projects 1 month for bathroom renovation to about 4 months for a medium renovation.

When you deal with me I will be there throughout the whole process from the design/certification stage and am on site to supervise all aspects of construction. I will be all over every project to ensure the best quality and compliance with all regulations and codes.

I have over 25 years as a licensed building designer and builder. I take your ideas and present them on paper and also provide a 3D model so that you can see the finished project. I source products from reliable suppliers like Corinthian, Stegbar, Reece, Versace Timbers, trend windows, and I use reliable top class tradesman.

What are the typical things that you need to know before you can provide a quote to a customer?

A floor plan with size of proposed works, specifications of materials and items to be included in quote, soil testing engineers details. Site plans contour surveys are also helpful, and an RP description of lot showing land with easements if any.

Have preliminary plans drawn of  what you want to do and obtain a trial budget to see if you are in the ball park Have an idea of extent of works that you want the builder to complete Provide some idea of level of finish (budget, mid-range or high end)

What makes your pricing competitive?

I am working on low margins on supplying of materials and products so that the end user can benefit from my buying power. I love to haggle the price so that my clients get the best deal.

How do you normally charge for your service?

I charge per square metre for house designs/plans & quote per job for renovation projects. Building projects are fully quoted - meaning all quantities are estimated for each project.

Is there a particular aspect of your trade or industry that you specialise in?

Difficult sites sloping or small lot. I like to do the jobs that most builders aren't interested in. we like a challenge and find difficult sites offer more creative solutions.

I have over 30 years experience in the residential building sector with mostly new dwellings, but also many renovation projects. I am also a qualified and fully licensed building designer, so I can provide designs and plans for any project.
