Success Story: Simon from Giraffe Removals

After mastering the removalist trade in the UK, Simon from Giraffe Removals,  decided to visit Australia. Three years later,  he is still enjoying the Australian sun and his team of twelve who are ‘head and shoulders above the rest’.

“Three years ago, I came to Australia for a few months to save some money. I decided to put an ad in the newspaper and rent a truck for some work. I never expected to stay but have since fallen in love with this place. I have never looked back,” he said.

In the three years, Giraffe removals has grown into a close-knit team that Simon sees as his family.

“We’re a close net of real good lads. Our guys have been with us for a long time. They’re smart, well humoured and hard working” he said.

The Giraffe Removals Team

The job can be difficult and testing, often requiring long working hours in hot conditions but according to Simon, a reliable team and a strong team culture is the key to withstanding industry pressure.

To ensure the team spirit is high and customers are pleased, Simon often spend his weekends wake-boarding with the team in the Swan river.

“It’s easy to feel down if you’re not working with good people because people make a huge difference. Our spirit is awesome and because of that, we enjoy the job, things don’t get damaged and customers are always happy,” said Simon.

Laura from Thornlie, hired Giraffe Removals to assist her with an overwhelming move. She hadn’t moved in fifteen years and ‘the idea of moving was daunting to say the least’. However, Simon’s team took control and gave incredible service, leaving Laura relaxed and confident.

Simon understands the importance of open communication with the customer and strives to constantly keep the customer involved and updated in the process. His service is exceptional and is more important than doing just the basic job for a cheaper price.

“Invest in your staff, don’t cut corners. If you pay peanuts, you’ll get monkeys. Going cheap might mean you save money instantly but it might mean more money in the long run,” he said.

Since joining Oneflare, Simon has connected with many of his local customers, expanding his business and finding quality jobs for his team.

“Oneflare is easy, convenient and you get a lot of good leads. It’s a great platform to get your name out there,” Simon said.

Simon promises quality and trust by hiring hard workers that are experienced, reliable and most importantly,  good characters that demonstrate the right spirit for the job.

Simon’s Five Tips to a Successful Move:

  1. Start packing as early as possible – it will probably take longer than you think!
  2. When packing your boxes, put heavy items in smaller boxes and lighter items such as clothing, plastic, toys in bigger boxes. It’s easier to carry heavy items in smaller boxes.
  3. Use proper moving cartons of similar size as they are stronger and easier to stack, reducing your removal costs.
  4. Label boxes clearly with contents, fragile items and destination room for an efficient move.
  5. Put everything that fits in a box, in a box! Small fiddly things are actually what takes up more space and takes more time.
